Glamour & Grit: The Life of a Writer

Quill and ink image

Have you ever wondered what a writer’s life is really like? The Fort Laramie Historical Association invites you to join Cheyenne author Amanda Cabot Amanda Cabot, Cheyenne author for a light-hearted look at her life as she presents “Glamour and Grit: The Life of a Writer” in the Visitor Center auditorium at Fort Laramie National Historic Site on Saturday, March 31 at 10:30 a.m.

The author of more than twenty-five novels, four non-fiction books and what she describes as “enough technical articles to cure insomnia in a medium-sized city,” Cabot will discuss the writing and publishing process, explaining how she turns the seed of an idea into a full-length book, what happens after a book is contracted, including the seemingly mysterious processes of Summer of Promise by Amanda Cabot titling books and developing cover art, and the specific challenges she faced setting a book at Fort Laramie.

Following the presentation, Cabot will be signing copies of her latest book, Summer of Promise, a historical novel which takes place at Fort Laramie in 1885. Refreshments will be served.
