Dance Music of the Oregon Trail CD

Performed by Phil and Vivian Williams

At the end of a long day traveling on the Oregon Trail, the pioneers often played musical instruments, sang, and danced on the prairie beside the covered wagons. Their diaries sometimes mention the names of the songs they sang and played. Here are some of those tunes, as well as other popular dance tunes of the era, performed in old-time style. They are still among the most familiar and well-loved tunes to today. Vivian Williams on fiddle and Phil Williams on banjo, guitar, mandolin, and accordion.

17 tracks.
