In Victorian times, men that were away from home or at war were unable to have their wives attend to their mending needs, so their wives created a mini-kit called a housewife (later shortened to Hussif) that contained all the necessary items to mend tears or replace buttons.
The Soldier's Housewife contains a pair of quality scissors, buttons, needles, thread, and period correct material very similar to what was used in the 1800's.
Closed size 2 3/4 inches x 5 inches, assorted colors.
